Toxic Masculinity?
FatherPower is Golden Masculinity.
Fatherhood is a central issue for men and boys, whether they are fathers or not, whether they intend to have children or not. If a man or boy wants to be seen as fully human — rather than as an example of all-too-common negative stereotypes of men, boys, maleness and masculinity — he suffers when fatherhood suffers.
Fatherhood is the fullest, richest expression of male values. It is a special target for those who want all things female to triumph over anything male.
Strategies in the Service of FatherPower
-
We know and will be guided by the wise saying, “Don't bother arguing with a person whose salary depends on disagreeing with you.”
-
Accordingly, we will not allow anti-father forces to establish the agenda and put us on the defensive. We recognize that in the game of winning public opinion and cultural change, men and our allies are being trounced. We cannot make the game more interesting and meaningful without emphasizing offense and putting our own points on the board.
-
For good and understandable reasons, men avoid conflict with women. In the near term we will not expect too much from men in reversing their fortunes.
-
To challenge the notion that Big Femma accurately represents the opinions and interests of American women, we will partner with and provide a platform to women who beg to differ.
-
We will welcome women who appreciate men for how hard we work and how we risk our lives in the service of others, but
-
We will prioritize working with women who believe in fairness and appreciation for men not because of what we do, but because they know what we do is the clearest expression of who we are and how we think, feel and love.
-
-
We welcome good faith discussions with people of good will, including those who do not agree with us. We do not fear conflict. Indeed, we see it as an opportunity for creative problem-solving.
-
While we understand that there can be unavoidable causes for depriving children of the benefits of fatherhood, we know that ensuring a child has a father is far too important to be dismissed as a mere lifestyle choice. We believe it is time for discussions of Responsible Motherhood.
-
We believe that the core of anti-father sentiment is women’s understandable and all-too-human reluctance to share the blessings of parenthood. This infographic states the theory of our case and our hope for the future.
